How we can help

Improve scar appearance

Most scarring and swelling can be improved regardless of how new or old the injury or surgery is. Our treatments reduce scar height, swelling and discolouration, and improve skin suppleness.

Reduce tightness and pain

Scars can be extremely painful and itchy, and can cause increased sensation or numbness. Tight scars can affect ease of movement and completion of everyday activities, not only in the scar itself but through surrounding tissues and fascia. Our therapists can help you to reduce this discomfort.

Reduce oedema (swelling)

Oedema is swelling that can persist following injury, fracture or surgery, due to the position or size of the scar, lack of movement, or positioning of the limb. Our treatments can help to minimise this.

Return movement and function

Scar Care not only treats the scar itself but the surrounding tissues and fascia that may become involved.  A full assessment of functional difficulties will assist your therapist in designing the most appropriate scar management programme.

In-clinic, mobile and Telehealth appointments

Visit our practice at Indooroopilly, or access our home visiting services throughout South East Queensland. Our home visiting programme allows access to treatment for people who are currently immobile, have been recently discharged from hospital or have difficulty being able to travel to our private rooms. We also provide telehealth services and advice throughout Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

Meet the team

Our occupational therapists work with clients who have ongoing scarring and oedema difficulties, often many months and years following their injury or surgery. We can assist anyone who has long term pain, sensory changes or physical difficulties with scarring and oedema.
